Oracle ASM Features: With ASM, Oracle ventures into the goal of bringing as much of the Operating Systems housekeeping into the database as possible. Oracle 10g ASM features the following:

• Automatic load balancing
• Software Raid 1 with double or triple mirroring
• Elimination of File Management
• Elimination of Fragmentation
